Harry Potter!!

So, who's off to see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince over the next few days? I suspect some of you will see it on opening night? Keep an eye out on the advertising - how has it been sold? What merchandise can you buy? How is the cinema enticing you to see the film? What has been going on on the radio today - Radio 1 for instance had "Harry Potter Day"!!! What are the films which are advertised in the trailers before the film? Why those films?

Then , whilst you're watching - how is the pace maintained? How true is the film to the book? Does the film live up to the hype? Why? Think about why the HP films maintain their popularity, and how much that has to do with advertising and marketing (distribution) rather than the film's actual merit as a media text.

Chat away!!

  5. i went to watch harry potter the day after it came out!i love it i've got the box sets, all the books and even the extra books of spells and quiddich :P. im a big harry potter geek :)Not seen any new merchandise in the shops yet but the merchandise for the movie usually comes out when the dvd does. The adverts highlight the bits with the special effects mostly,it lived up to what i expected it was so much better than any of the others.I think its so popular because both adults and children like the movies. There was lots of background music almost all through the movie so there was never a boring moment.i was looking in the little booklet inside the dvds a while ago at the merchandise and i begged mum for the hogwarts robes :P but they only had up to age 11 :P
    wow i wrote a lot
